We
have tried various different styles of Sauvignon Blanc over the
20 years we have been making it. I have settled on a ripe unwooded
style that suits my palate and is sufficiently different to attract
those that find many of the New Zealand style wines too be too
green on the nose and lacking a full palate.
Tasting
Notes:
Clean,
fresh lemon and mineral, passionfruit and snow pea
palate, deliciously long and succulent.

2009
Lirralirra Estate

SAUVIGNON BLANC |
Because of the difficult growing conditions in 2009, severe drought and heat, we picked the Sauvignon Blanc twice - the first 66% very early and the remainder at our normal time. This has resulted in a wine that shows both early and late picked characterisics.
Tasting Notes:
Light to medium yellow green: the strong bouquet is crisp, with herbal/asparagus/green capsican aromas; the palate is lively, with both minerally and the fleshy structure and flavour from extended lees contact., Finishes with fresh acidity.

Ever
since the breakthrough pinot noir of 1996 we have been making
powerful pinots that have attracted the attention and high marks
of all the “gurus” to whom we have submitted the
wines. This wine is no exception.
Tasting Notes:
Good purple-red; exceptional intensity
and drive for the vintage; complex plum and spice fruit; great

Yarra Valley
CABERNETS |
Our Cabernets consist of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of both Cabernet Franc and Merlot included in the ferment.
Our area of the Yarra Valley is becoming progressively hotter and drier with the result that the once marginal Cabernet is now mainstream.
Tasting Notes:
Light to medium-bodied; gently sweet, cassis and berry fruit; balanced tannins and judicious oak; nice unforced style.
