We
have tried various different styles of Semillon over the 24 years we
have been making it and have settled on an unwooded style more in the
Bordeax style, i.e - riper than Hunter Valley, but without the
additional varieties of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadel.
Tasting Notes:
Glowing quartz-green; the 30 year old vines, and the cool Yarra
climate, provide a wine that has some of the texture and flavour of a
young White Bordeax, an interesting future.

Because
of the difficult growing conditions in 2009, severe drought and heat,
we picked the Sauvignon Blanc twice - the first 66% very early and the
remainder at our normal time. This has resulted in a wine that shows
both early and late picked characterisics.
Tasting Notes:
Light
straw-green: a substantial wine that might be confused with semillon
(or a blend), in a grassy/herbal (although not unripe) mode, has good
length and balance, and a clean finish.

Ever
since the breakthrough pinot noir of 1996 we have been making
powerful pinots that have attracted the attention and high marks
of all the “gurus” to whom we have submitted the
wines. This wine is no exception.

Solid wine, strong structure for the ripe plummy fruit; oak and tannins needing time to settle down.

2005
Yarra Valley
CABERNETS |
Our
Cabernets consist of mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a small amount of
both Cabernet Franc and Merlot included in the ferment.
Our area of the Yarra Valley is becoming
progressively hotter and drier with the result that the once marginal
Cabernet is now mainstream.
Tasting Notes:
Bottled on the same day as the '06, and shows
a softer, juicer profile, with seemingly more oak influence; more in a
drink soon style.
